News from Pearson Longman!

This is just a short note with the objective of sharing the fantastic training experience we enjoyed at Colegio Del Carmen together with the local teaching community.

As mentioned at the opening of the Seminar, Pearson Longman would like to thank the Del Carmen authorities for facilitating the venue and for helping to ensure we had everything we needed to run a successful training session. We would also like to express our special thanks to Beatriz Pena Lima for accompanying us on this fascinating path of “always learning”. We would also like to express our recognition to the local teaching community who always appreciate these opportunities to promote their professional growth and for participating actively and enthusiastically.

Beatriz encouraged the use of stories in the classroom as a powerful tool for learning English and furthermore for education. As expected the teachers present participated actively by sharing their thoughts, doubts and experiences on this subject. On a final note we are sure that working together the school and the community we can achieve a better education for us all.

Training Sessions for Teachers!

Welcome back to a new school year full of surprises!

During February and March, all the English Department attended different training seminars at our school. They were really exciting and motivating for us! We prepared ourselves for this new incoming school year full of new ideas and projects to share and enjoy with our students.

We are very proud of the results so far... but we will keep on working hard trying to improve every day!

6º Form - "The Mark of Zorro"

6th form was working in groups on some posters they made related to the story we read for some months: “The Mark of Zorro”. The idea was for them to create a “Wanted Dead or Alive” poster. They had to describe the Zorro: the clothes he wore, the weapons he used and the crimes he commited. They had a lot of fun looking for the details to complete the description and, also, decorating the posters. Some of them even drew weapons on the cards!!! We had a great time!!! Well done, boys and girls... Keep up the good work!

Kinder 4A - "Parts of the Body"

Trabajamos con las partes del cuerpo!!!!!! Primero, saludamos a Mickey y luego realizamos un trabajo final con las partes del cuerpo donde señalizamos cada parte del robot con carteles de distintos colores. Luego aprendimos la comida y escuchamos y cantamos canciones super divertidas!!!!! Estuvo genial!!!!! Por último, y para despedirnos, saludamos a Mickey con mucha alegría!!!!! Great!!!

2nd Year News!

Hi everyone!!!
We've started a new term and the last. We are very happy for having reached the expected goals so far. These weeks we've been working with Unit 7 "Going Out and Staying In" from the book "Laser B1". We've read a story which helps us to recognize texts and functions. Then we talked about the topic of entertainment through personal responses. We discussed what they like doing in their free time, and what places they like visiting.
We had a great time together!

1st Year - Literature Day

¡Hola a todos!

En primer año a la tarde nos encontramos trabajando con el pasado simple. El día martes realizamos una actividad donde el objetivo era contar la vida de J.K. Rowling, la escritora de Harry Potter. Teníamos imágenes que indicaban los sucesos de su vida y los chicos los acomodaban y generaban oraciones en forma oral. La actividad sirvió como un disparador para hablar de los diferentes libros de la saga, por qué nos resultan interesantes, de que se tratan, quienes prefieren los libros y quienes las películas… es decir, pusimos en práctica todos nuestros conocimientos y al mismo tiempo disfrutamos hablando de un tema que nos divierte.

2nd Year - Environmental Class!

¡CUIDEMOS EL MEDIO AMBIENTE!
Con los alumnos de segundo año reflexionamos sobre algunos problemas que afectan a nuestro planeta. Diagramamos una tabla en el pizarron con algunos de estos males, tales como pobreza, guerras, enfermedades y contaminacion...
Cada alumno marcó en la tabla cual de éstos es el que mas le preocupa...

Descubrimos que a la mayoria nos preocupa la contaminacion del planeta. En grupos, pensamos formas para reducir la contaminacion y nos propusimos tomar medidas tales como cuidar el agua, la electricidad y usar bolsas reciclables.

1st Year - Simple Past Matching!

Hi Everyone!

Durante la semana estuvimos trabajando con Simple Past . Conocimos los verbos regulares e irregulares. Durante esta actividad repasamos y practicamos lo aprendido. Trabajando en grupos encontramos los verbos en infinitivo y su pasado. Luego, escribimos oraciones utilizando las palabras dadas. Para concluir... y escuchando con mucha atencion!! corregimos errores... y practicamos oralmente mas oraciones usando los verbos en infinitivo o en pasado que habiamos pegado en cada columna.

1st Year - Regular and Irregular Race!

After finishing the Unit 7 dealing with SIMPLE PAST, we enjoyed playing a super "verb race". The two groups competing were really into it trying to distinguish very quickly which verbs were regular and which ones irregular. And the winner was... GROUP 1! CONGRATULATIONS! :)

GROUP 2... don't worry! You will have your chance next time!

1st Year - Miss Laura

Finalizó el primer trimestre... Con mucha alegría puedo decir que lo terminamos cumpliendo con todo lo propuesto al plantear el año. Sobre todo conociéndonos y aprendiendo unos de otros.
Gracias a eso pudimos empezar el segundo trimestre con mucha energía. Continuamos con el libro Switch On 1 que nos llevo a ver más grammar and vocabulary ideal para hablar sobre nuestras rutinas diarias y hábitos (Present Simple), como lo que nos gusta y no nos gusta (likes & dislikes). Todo esto y más lo estamos empleando en todos los aspectos del lenguaje. Tanto en la parte escrita como en la oral.
Por suerte, nos encantó estar leyendo y discutiendo en clase el libro de lectura “Police TV” . Y en pleno mundial, aprendimos un poco de vocabulario con respecto a eso! :)
Finalizado ya este segundo trimestre, deseo sinceramente que este año continúe como hasta ahora y que crezcamos todos día a día aprendiendo... Because we love English!

Pirate's Day - 5th Form - more pics!

Fifth form had a wonderful class about pirates! We played games and did many activities... but the main task was to have fun when we learn English! :)
Congratulations to all students! You are real pirates! You discovered the golden chocolate treasure!

Pirate's Day - 5th Form

Notificacion 1º Grado B

Estimados papás,
El miércoles 14/07 haremos en el colegio una exposición del proyecto “Bicentenario y 9 de julio”. Le pedimos a cada familia de 1° B que haga su maqueta de la Casa de Tucumán para exponer ese día.
Pasos a seguir para realizar la maqueta:
1- Usar una caja de zapatos blanca (si no es blanca, se puede pintar o forrar)
2- Se trabajará en la parte de afuera de la caja, es decir, su base.
3- Hacer dos ventanas y la puerta (las pueden dibujar o bien hacerlas en papel glacé)
4- Pegar dos fideos de tirabuzón al lado de la puerta (para simular las columnas)
5- Hacer dos banderas argentinas al lado de cada ventana (pueden dibujarlas, usar papel glacé, tela de color blanco y celeste, etc)
6- Pegar la tapa de la caja sobre ella (será la parte más alta de la Casita, no importa que sobresalga)
7- Pueden agregar más detalles si lo desean!
Cualquier duda estoy a su disposición!
